"ONE DAY TANKTOP" imagined for a day in someone's life

Imagined for a Day in Someone’s Life

When designing the "ONE DAY TANKTOP," we imagined a day in someone’s life. One for work, and another for the time that follows — created with the idea of helping the wearer move through the day in comfort. Meant to be worn on its own in warmer seasons and as an inner layer in colder months, it was designed as a piece that stays close to everyday life throughout the year.

The Softness of Loopwheel Fabric

The "ONE DAY TANKTOP" is made from the same loopwheel-knit fabric used for the "S/S PACK TEE." Its greatest appeal lies in its distinctive softness and feel against the skin. Produced in Wakayama, this fabric is slowly and carefully knitted unlike modern high-speed machines, allowing the yarn to remain under minimal tension and preserving its natural character. The result is a breathable, easy texture that sits comfortably against the skin, even on hot and humid days.

The Difference Made by Sewing

Because a tank top is such a simple garment, we paid close attention to how it is made. It features a tubular body with no side seams, while flat seams are used at the shoulders to reduce interference against the skin. The neckline and armholes are finished with a two-needle binder construction, creating a smooth finish with minimal bulk.

Balanced Fit and Design

The fit was developed to work both as a standalone piece and as an inner layer. It has a relaxed shape that does not cling too closely to the body, while still functioning naturally as a base layer. The depth of the armholes and the width of the shoulders were carefully considered, giving it the presence of a sleeveless top while remaining a tank top in essence.

The Ultimate Simplicity of a Tank Top

To imagine a day in someone’s life — what emerged from that idea was the tank top. In many ways, it feels like the simplest form of clothing, almost its origin. Within that simplicity, how much thought and refinement can be built in? That was WASEW’s challenge. Quiet yet indispensable, more than just a garment, it is something made to stay close to everyday life. That is WASEW’s idea of the "ONE DAY TANKTOP."
